Since 2005 Roz has been the world’s foremost female ocean rower, having rowed – solo – across the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans. She has rowed over 15,000 miles, taken around 5 million oarstrokes, and spent cumulatively 520 days alone at sea. There is no better way to acquire advanced expertise on self-mastery, resilience, and stress management than to be alone on a 23-foot rowboat, thousands of miles from land, at the mercy of winds, waves and currents.

Roz had to redefine her comfort zone on a daily basis, and reach deep into her inner sources of strength, self-discipline, and commitment to her goal. She discovered the vital importance of keeping a cool head in unpredictable situations, and even when faced with challenges beyond her control, to keep her attention and focus on the one element that it was always possible to control – her psychological response. For the last 24 days of her 103-day Atlantic voyage she had no human contact after her satellite phone failed – the ultimate test of holding it together when the going gets tough.

Prior to this radical undertaking, she spent eleven years working as a management consultant, which gave her a relevant and practical understanding of business and commercial organisations which she draws on to make her keynote speeches tailored and applicable.

Roz applies a psychological and neuroscientific approach to mind management, to develop greater resilience in individuals, teams and corporations in times of rapid and often unpredictable change. In challenging circumstances, an understanding of human stress-response mechanisms and how to control them is crucial to smart decision-making, accurate risk assessment and creative problem-solving.

Roz’s inspiring presentations can help your staff to develop greater self-awareness, improving their ability to keep an even keel while surfing the waves of change. Using her ocean stories to illustrate principles from the worlds of psychology and neuroscience, she will provide tools for staying calm in times of stress, avoiding overwhelm and burnout. She will help teams establish shared values and goals, and a common language that will improve communication while challenging and supporting each other in the pursuit of higher standards. Your company will benefit from greater adaptability to changes both internal and external, with a workforce empowered to make better decisions in support of an aligned purpose and direction.

“Our event was spectacular – because of you! We thank you very, very much for: being beautiful inside and out; for being articulate and passionate about your craft and your dreams, and for being gracious and interested in our organization.” – Museum of Science & Industry, Tampa, Florida
